Snowbound in Connecticut

Krtv.jpg

From the New York Times:

KRTV News in Great Falls, Mont., has exactly one full-time reporter, Kay Rossi, on the Monday-to-Friday local news beat. So when Ms. Rossi called in stranded — snowbound with family in Connecticut, uncertain when she would be able to get back West — the tiny station’s managers were thrown into a staffing crisis. Then they improvised: They made her plight a news story.

We enjoyed this story not only because of the Connecticut connection but because it was written by reporter Kirk Johnson who spent a few years covering Connecticut for the New York Times.

News from NECN

New England Cable News will be launching a new morning news show, airing from 7am-9am.
And we totally missed the fact that month, longtime Boston-area anchor R.D. Sahl announced that he’s leaving NECN. Around these parts we refer to him as former WFSB anchor R.D. Sahl…

New Hires at WFSB

WFSB has two new staff members joining its ranks.

Olessa Stepanova has been hired to do morning traffic and as a reporter for the 3 pm show “Better Connecticut”. She’s been working at News 12 Long Island since 2006 and also freelanced as a traffic reporter at NY1.

Kim Lucey

Kim Lucey comes to WFSB from its sister station, WSHM, in Springfield, MA. Prior to that she worked at WTAP In West Virginia and WHP in Harrisburg, PA.

The Most Important Story of 2010

Hands down… it’s the birth of Laurelite Kevin Hill’s twins. He and wife Jen are the proud and happy parents of Eleanor Darcy Hill and James Augustus Hill, born on December 17. Stats: Eleanor arrived at 10:32 am, weighing in at 6 pounds, 5 ounces, followed one minute later by brother James who checked in at 5 pounds, 9 ounces. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to the Hill family!
