Joe D’Ambrosio (WTIC-am and NBC CT Sports Anchor)  and Kevin Nathan (NBC CT Sports Director and WTIC-am)  have been named Connecticut Sportscasters of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association. It’s Joe’s 7th time, Kevin’s 6th. Congrats boys.

New Face at The Capitol

  Associated Press Statehouse Reporter Sue Haigh is going to have some help around the building this session; the AP has hired a temporary sessional reporter. Western Massachusetts native Shannon Young comes to the capitol from from D.C. where she’s been covering the New Hampshire congressional delegation.

Weekend Romance

So The Laurel doesn’t usually report on romances (okay, the occasional wedding….) but WTNH weekend anchor John Pierson’s Facebook page does indicate that he’s “in a relationship” with weekend meteorologist and Community Affairs Director Erica Grow…

Dr. Mel, recently retired WTNH meteorologist, is at Connecticut Hospice in Branford but hopes to return home soon. Ed Stannard at the New Haven Register has the story.

Petty on to Chicago

NBC Connecticut’s Lauren Petty has announced that she will be leaving the station to join WMAQ in Chicago as a general assignment reporter. Petty has been at NBC Connecticut for the past six years and is a Chicago native. She will begin at WMAQ on January 30th.
