One of Connecticut’s oldest and most well-known “oldies” radio stations has a new owner. Buckley Broadcasting is selling WDRC AM and other FM stations including WMMW AM, WWC0 AM and WSNG AM to Westport-based Connoisseur Media.

Connoisseur currently owns 36 radio stations across the country including WPLR, WYBC, the Fox and Star in Milford, Connecticut.

  1. Connoisseur owns classic hits B-103 on LI, so they are already well experienced with the format, and will most likely build on DRC-FM’s success.

Regarding the Buckley AMs…outside of Brad Davis, the programming can’t hold a candle to WTIC, and Connecticut doesn’t need another sports station. Connoisseur either needs to copy its successful WHLI on Long Island, or do what Cox in Fairfield County did by selling its CT AMs to NPR affiliate WSHU.
