Long-time Meriden Record-Journal reporter and editor Eric Cotton has been named the news organization’s executive editor.

Cotton has been with the paper for more than twenty-five years and has served as managing editor for the last ten. He succeeds Ralph Tomaselli who was the paper’s top editor for seventeen years. Tomaselli suffered a stroke last year and has been unable to return to the position full time, but continues to advise the staff as editor emeritus.
