The Facebook Journalism Project announced that about $16 million in grants will be distributed to more than 200 local news organizations, including two in Connecticut, as part of Facebook’s local news relief fund. The Facebook Journalism Project said it collected more than 2,000 applications.
The Record-Journal will receive $99,501 and the Waterbury Observer will receive $25,000.
Facebook reported that “nearly 80 percent of recipients are family or independently owned and more than half are published by or for communities of color.”
