Two Departures

CT Confidential informs us of the unfortunate news that Peter Urban, Connecticut’s last Washington-based reporter, was laid off by his employer, The Connecticut Post. He was a victim of this latest round of cuts at  Heart’s CT newspapers. Peter spent many years in Hartford covering the state capitol and there isn’t a nicer person. According to The Dean of the Capitol press corps, Steve Kotchko of CT Radio Network, “In the State Capitol press corps, where short fuses often spark, Peter Urban somehow maintained his low-key demeanor and exhibited his dry sense of humor to the delight of his colleagues.”

And Thursday will be the last day on air for Jeannine Jersey, program director/afternoon DJ at WTIC-FM. More in the Courant’s JAVA column.

Two Baby Boys for Irene O’Connor

The Laurel was just told that WFSB’s Irene O’Connor delivered her twins last night – two baby boys. Mazel tov to her and husband Matt Fleury!

The doctor’s orders came not a day too soon…
