NBC’s Chris Hansen Finds Himself “Caught”

Earlier this year, Governor Malloy was asked by MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski to name his favorite Connecticut reporter. Forced to come up with an answer that didn’t choose favorites among the locals, the Governor wisely picked his Stamford neighbor, NBC’s Chris Hansen – famous for hosting “To Catch A Predator.”

Unfortunately for Hansen and his family, Hansen recently found himself caught in a sting involving a woman who is not his wife.

National Honors for Two WNPR Programs

There’s only one type of national award specifically for public radio, and WNPR programs have won three of them. John Dankosky’s “Where We Live” and Colin McEnroe’s “The Colin McEnroe Show” were cited by the Public Radio News Directors Inc. Conference for excellence. John and WWL won first place for “Best Call-In Show” and second place for “Best News and Public Affairs.” Colin’s show won in the “Best Interview” category. Here’s a link to the press release which we encourage you to read as it describes the particular episodes that won the awards and they’re all really interesting (for example Colin’s show that focused on former CT radio personality Beth Bradley and her wait for a new heart).

Crystal Headed to Boston

Ken’s Back

Ken Dixon

We were so glad to learn that Connecticut Post reporter, columnist and blogger Ken Dixon has returned to his desk at the Capitol press room after some serious surgery. As always, his desk is piled high with newspapers so it may be hard to spot him, but he’s there. Thank goodness.

Popping the Question

Some viewers may have noticed that WTNH’s Sara Welch was missing from her anchor chair during the Sunday evening newscasts. That’s because she was busy being proposed to by boyfriend Bobby Vanech. Congratulations!

Joe and Mika in Hartford

Prior to being featured at last night’s ‘One Fabulous Big Summer Night’ fundraiser for the Hartford Public Library, Morning Joe’s Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski had a few stops to make in the Greater Hartford area. First, according to Dennis House’s great Hartfordite blog, was a trip to Connecticut’s Department of Motor Vehicles so that Mr. Scarborough could pick up his new license. Yes, he is a now Connecticut resident!

Next, the pair stopped at Ms. Brzezinski’s old stomping grounds at WFSB for this Sunday’s ‘Face the State’ to discuss a myriad of topics. Tune in Sunday to catch the interview.

The following morning, their MSNBC program “Morning Joe” was partially broadcast from the NBC Connecticut studios on New Britain Avenue in West Hartford.

Mysterious Ailment Knocks Dr. Mel Off the Air

Dr. Mel Goldstein has battled multiple myeloma for sixteen years (even though that type of cancer carries a three year life expectancy) but a mysterious pain has knocked him off the air. Dr. Mel has been feeling this pain since March but, according to the New Haven Register, he is keeping quite busy these days.

We wish good health to you, Dr. Mel!
