Two New Hires at 30

Two new reporters are joining NBC CT – Todd Piro and Audrey Washington.

From the station’s press release:

Piro joins the station as a reporter after four years with KPSP in Palm Springs, California, where he served as weekday morning anchor for the past two years.  He also worked as a reporter, weekend sports anchor and producer prior to his anchoring role.  Before his television career, Piro was a litigation lawyer and recruiting coordinator for the Los Angeles law firm of Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP and also worked for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office.

Audrey Washington comes to Connecticut from WJAR in Providence, Rhode Island, where she has been breaking stories for the past two years.  Before working in the Ocean State, the Long Island native reported at WSYR in Syracuse, New York and WITN in Greenville, North Carolina.  Washington has also spent time behind the scenes at New York City’s Fox 5, Lifetime Television, MTV Networks and News 12 Long Island.  She began her career at WRNN, an independent television station in Kingston, New York.

  1. I read somewhere that Todd will be a morning anchor. I wonder if he is goin to take Kerri-Lee’s spot on weekend mornings and KerriLee would move to weekend evenings

  2. Jeff Stoecker seems to be doing a fine job in the evenings. I think I’d rather see Shirley move to the weekday morning “update” desk during the week. I am having some trouble warming up to KerriLee and it might keep me from watching in the PM if she is solo.

  3. From Todd’s Facebook page:
” I have accepted a position at the NBC O&O in Hartford, CT. In this role, I will be splitting my time between anchoring updates during the morning show during the first half of my day and reporting during the second half.”

Looks like NBC CT is preparing a new male anchor in case Gerry or Brad leave

  4. Todd will eventually replace brad drazen on the am show because of poor ratings, there is no other option. It will be a ‘soft launch’ .. Piro will start on their am desk doing updates and then take over the desk. Brad Drazen will likely move somewhere behind the scenes or to a weekend spot.
