Newcaster Fantasy

Cindy Michaels

Tony Consiglio

Two local news anchors at WVII in Bangor, Maine shocked their viewers and their bosses when they quit their jobs at the end of the 6pm newscast. One of them, Tony Consiglio, is a native of northeastern Connecticut. Consiglio’s co-anchor, Cindy Michaels, was also the station’s news director:

Michaels, WVII’s news director, cited “constant disrespecting and belittling of staff” and editorial intervention by higher-ups. “It’s a little complicated, but we were expected to do somewhat unbalanced news, politically, in general,” she added.

Clinton’s Erica Hill Lands On Her Feet

We’re late on this one but Clinton, CT native Erica Hill  is now now co-anchoring NBC’s weekend Today Show alongside Lester Holt. She left the CBS Morning News when she was replaced by Norah O’Donnell. Erica’s arrival at NBC resulted in the demotion of the insufferably arrogant Jenna Wolfe who has been hosting weekends alongside Holt. Wolfe apparently was furious at being pushed down to the weekend news reader spot and made the colossal error of showing it. This led to a reprimand from NBC brass.

CT-N’s New Director of Programming

Julia O’Brien will succeed Dominique Avery as CT-N’s Director of Programming. Julia was among CPAN’s first employees, starting as one of the original Production Technicians.  After a period as Assignment Editor, she went on to become the network’s first Assignment Manager. Congratulations to Julia and best of luck to Dominique!
