  1. so dismissing the gun llgesiation crowd for being emotional doesn’t hold water with me. People on both sides have very strong emotions about this issue. Without dismissing or invalidating anyone’s feelings, we ought to at least recognize the huge potential for trouble this churning cauldron of emotion creates. There’s a difference between having a heart and being ruled by it. If making decisions primarily by our feelings was a good idea, then we’d put the toddlers and teens in charge of everything (lately, I often think they already are).The reason it is so hard for me not to dismiss gun control out of hand is that is starts with the assumption that zero gun violence is possible. To me, this belief is irrational to the point of bordering on fantasy. What possible observation of history or human nature could lead one to that conclusion?
