As Only in Bridgeport points out, Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch is unhappy about what he calls inaccuracies in reporting by the Connecticut Post so he’s used Facebook to make his case.

Mark His Words

Mark Oppenheimer, who writes on religion for the New York Times and directs the Yale Journalism Initiative, will speak at Central Connecticut State University on Tuesday, Oct. 8. The lecture, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 7 p.m. in the Constitution Room of Memorial Hall.  His talk will focus on the issue of how to report fairly on various religious claims.

A New Addition to NBC CT


Abbey Niezgoda has been added to NBC Connecticut’s roster as a reporter.

Abbey previously worked for WLNE-TV ABC6 in Providence, RI. She has covered stories ranging from the Boston Marathon bombings to the arrest of NFL star Aaron Hernandez to the Blizzard of 2013. While in Rhode Island she made headlines  when she was attacked by a woman while reporting on a shooting at a kindergarten graduation party.

Matt Scott is back forecasting the weather – now on Fox61. He’s best known for his years at WTNH, but also did some fill-in work at News12. We’re told he’s helping out while Rachel Frank is off getting married.

Hartford Courant Bracing for Cuts

Tribune has announced it plans to make cuts at its newspapers, which include the Hartford Courant. With Tribune planning to hold onto its broadcast stations (including Fox61) they seem to be readying their print holdings for the sale.
