The Connecticut Public Affairs Network, which until last week ran the state government affairs channel known as CT-N, laid off 22 employees Wednesday. Some had been with the network since it began.

The state budget drastically cut the CT-N budget and over the last year the network has been in conflict with the Office of Legislative Management over editorial control of programming. Governor Malloy came to the defense of CT-N Wednesday on Twitter suggesting there must be a way to find funding for the service and adding the network should maintain its editorial independence.
