From Laurel friend Patty McQueen:
On Saturday, Oct. 7, a group of reporters who covered the state Capitol in the 80s and 90s will gather for a reunion at what used to be Kenny’s, the site of many a post-deadline beer; now the alarmingly cleaned up Red Roof Tavern. A few are still reporters; others have lived many professional lives since then. By our nature, we’ll ask one another questions, such as do you have any recollection of being a reporter, an oft-repeated retort given in frustration to a reporter-turned-gubernatorial-flack, who wasn’t answering a question about the boss.
If you covered Ella Grasso, Bill O’Neill, Lowell Weicker or John Rowland…have ever seen the inside of the Hawaiian Room… still remember the vote count from the Stolberg/Balducci coup…or remember where you stood during the 1991 income tax rally…please join us.
