How you know Bob Douglas indicates your age and/or the number of years you’ve lived in Connecticut. If you know him only as a press secretary with House Democrats at the Capitol, then you’re relatively “new” to the media scene (given our youth-obsessed culture take that as something of a compliment, not a diss). If you recall his days on air at CPTV, you go back a ways. And if you remember him as the news director at WVIT, then it’s impressive you are reading a blog at all 🙂
We mention Bob for many reasons, but here’s one:Â he’s the guy who hired the aforementioned Jim Hart and Moses Price back in the 1970s as photographers for channel 30, which back then was a “UHF” station that struggled for viewers. Bob, a Bristol guy, got his start at radio station WBIS-am in his hometown of Bristol, and also served as one of the Hartford Courant’s local correspondents.
So if you see Bob roaming the halls of the Capitol or LOB, say hello and ask him a few questions about the history of Connecticut broadcasting. He knows a lot.
Actually, he was news director at WHNB, which then became WVIT. He had excellent taste in news photographers and weekend sports guys.
And that snarky comment is going to cost you, dubymcd, happy face or not.
Darn – was hoping the smiley guy would soften the blow. Bob and I tried to determine the WHNB/WVIT changeover date….thanks for setting the record straight (winking smiley face).
