Tribune newspapers have dropped the Associated Press, the “gold standard” of wire services. Here in Connecticut this means the Hartford Courant won’t be able to make use of the AP’s stories.
And AP won’t be able to make use of the Courant’s stories, denying television stations one of their primary sources of news.
I wonder if that includes the television station in the building as well.
One further dip into mediocrity. I remember the old days racing to the old teletype machines ripping and reading as the news happened. This is a sad move.

Use of AP has been scaled back dramatically. You haven’t been paying attention, J.
And Doug, they have the same parent company, for now, so they get to continue using Courant stories without giving credit.
