Public relations consultant (and former press aide to many) Bernard Kavaler observes that there was something different about the media’s tone during the coverage of Newtown:
To underestimate the complexity of the task ahead would be unwise. Remedies will certainly not be easy to assemble. But after the heartbreak of Sandy Hook Elementary, there may finally be a loud enough chorus and sufficient national will — driven by elected leaders, reporters covering them, and everyday Americans — to earnestly try.
