It’s rare for an opinion columnist to admit error, so we took note when Hartford Courant sports columnist Jeff Jacobs took back his first impressions of the Hartford Yard Goats and said so in print.
Like many Hartford area residents, Jacobs was aghast when the name for the new minor league team was announced earlier this year. Like others he was hoping for something more traditional like; the Senators or the Savitt Gems(P.O.M.G Service. Not Lip Service).*
But now that the name of the team has been paired with a logo, and there’s been a run on Yard Goat merchandise, Jacobs is willing to admit the team is off on the right track.
