As we head into the weekend we noted the Hartford Courant recently re-published two columns on Connecticut place pronunciations. It’s not clear why they’ve been re-published, but that’s not the point.
The point is there are lots of places in Connecticut with unique pronunciations and particularly if you’re a broadcast journalist, mis-pronouncing a name hurts your credibility with the audience.
So here are those two columns, from 2008, to ponder over the weekend and perhaps keep in the glove box of your news cruiser.
