What to say when the 5 W’s won’t cut it?
It looks like the Skimm is having an impact on writing for the Internet.
We are occasional users of The Skimm as a daily morning news briefing written in a carefree style. Like lists and click bait, it appears Skimm style is finding its way onto other websites. We came across this selection from NPR.org over the weekend.
It’s call and response writing meant to pull readers through to the end.
We have not been able to independently confirm NPR got its Pope update inspiration from the Skimm, but that’s OK, because in journalism two of anything is a trend and one of something is enough to prompt informed speculation ~ which is what we’ve done here.
