News 8 reporter Renee Chmiel says that in her job she asks many people to answer difficult questions about sensitive topics so she thinks it is only fair that she share her own story with others.
Chmiel was diagnosed earlier this year with breast cancer at age 29.
It has been treated and her doctor says there is a small chance of recurrence. But Chmiel is using her experience to encourage other women – especially those under 30 – to be vigilant about their own health because early detection makes a big difference.
