NBC CT is joining 3 other NBC owned sister stations and expanding its news offerings.
Beginning in May NBC CT will produce an hour long newscast at 4p.m. each day. We are told the expansion will require the hiring of additional staff.
The change will move the Ellen DeGeneres Show to 3p.m.
The other NBC owned stations making the change are: WNBC in New York, KNBC in southern California and WTVJ in south Florida.
A news release making the announcement says the 4p.m. newscasts will deliver “the most relevant and up-to-date local news.” We think that’s a good strategy considering the alternatives.
