Two weeks after Gretchen Carlson of Greenwich, Connecticut filed a sexual harassment suit against Fox News chairman and CEO Roger Ailes, he has been forced to resign his position.
The resignation ends a 20 year reign as one of the most powerful men in the television news business who took Fox from launch to a position of dominance in cable news.
Rupert Murdoch, the executive chairman of 21st Century Fox will take over as interim CEO of Fox News during an unspecified period of transition.
Carlson, a long time Fox News anchor filed her suit against Ailes shortly after being terminated. The Carlson suit led to an internal investigation which has reportedly produced multiple complaints of harassment against Ailes by other female employees.

Through her legal team, Gretchen Carlson issued a statement Thursday evening. She also reacted on Twitter by thanking those who offered her congratulations.
