Greg Hladky became the poster boy for unfortunate newspaper cutbacks when the New Haven Register laid him off from his job covering the state capitol back in March ’08. While there have been some great freelance opportunities for him, he’s just landed a full time, local gig (rather unheard of these days). NewMassMedia (the Hartford Advocate, New Haven Advocate and Fairfield County Weekly) has just offered him a job as senior writer for the chain. And he said yes. Greg spent a couple of decades covering state government and politics in Connecticut so those newspapers (yes, they’re owned by Tribune) have scored a top-notch journalist.
Congratulations Greg. They say the creme always rises to the top. What that has to do with your new job – I am not sure, but I’m sure it’s applicable in some way.
This is definitely good news. I’m so happy for Greg, but frankly I’m ecstatic for Connecticut readers. Greg is a great journalist who’ll uncover some really good stories.
