In a story you’ll see only on The Laurel, the Hartford Courant, America’s oldest continuously publishing newspaper, is once again making a buyout offer to long-term employees as a means to reduce costs.
The notice went out to Courant staff last week in an email from publisher Andrew Julien, The Laurel has learned. The buyout offer is “entirely voluntary” with no apparent hard deadline attached.
The success of the Employee Voluntary Separation program, or EVS, will be assessed at a later date and other options may be considered to reach cost savings targets if necessary.
