Thanks to fellow blogger Dean Pagani of Media Attache for alerting us to the following: a mention of a Connecticut media alumna, Gayle King, by an alumnus, Mike Allen of Politico. In Mike’s Playbook he lists the invitees to a small dinner held by the Obamas last night at Blair House. Gayle anchored at WFSB for many years, usually alongside Gerry Brooks (now of NBC30). While we’d like to think of something snarky to say, Gayle was always nice to everyone during her WFSB days and we’re happy for her success. And Mike, who was in the state for a brief tenure in the 90s as the New York Times’ Connecticut state capitol reporter, was unbelievably good; so good that you knew he wasn’t here for long. In fact, in the blink of an eye he was snatched up by the Washington Post where he covered President Bush (who gave him the nickname “Laddy”, as we recall, presumably for his youthful appearance).
Duby, what makes you think I wasn’t alongside her last night? But you’re right, she was nice to everybody. She even lent me an unregistered Mercury Monarch to drive when my car broke down. Hmmm…wonder if she still has it?
