His neighbors in Warren expected his return any day now, but novelist Philip Roth will not be returning to Litchfield County this summer.
He died Tuesday, in New York, at 85.
Roth had been a summer resident of Warren since buying a house there in 1972. He is one among many writers, and assorted celebrities, who have found privacy in the Litchfield Hills.
