If the Sinclair Broadcast Group deal to buy Tribune Media goes through, and if Fox 61 and WCCT in Connecticut fall under the Sinclair ownership umbrella, it appears content from Connecticut might find its way onto a new streaming platform Sinclair is building.
The platform, called STIRR, will include a 24/7 news channel built with national and local content from Sinclair stations. It sounds like a cross between NECN and CBSN. Early reports say it is Sinclair’s attempt to offer competition to the three leading cable news networks and specifically to Fox News.
