Tronc, the parent company of the Hartford Courant, has dramatically reduced the size of the news staff at one of the most well known papers in the country.
Monday, Tronc reduced the size of the news staff at the New York Daily News by 50% – which translates to about 40 positions, including most of the sports staff and most of the photo staff. The company says it is part of the company’s effort to focus on breaking news and compete in the internet age.
