Matt DeRienzo, VP of News and Digital Content at Hearst Connecticut Media Group, has been fired. This comes a few weeks after the Hearst CT newspapers (8 dailies) were among the first in the country (behind St. Louis) to call for the resignation of Donald Trump. Could be a coincidence – we don’t know. More from the New Haven Independent here.
A comment posted beneath the Independent’s story:
Matt modeled accessible and engaged leadership from the perspective of a CT media consumer. I can’t think of any other business leader who would say something like this and mean it: “Would love to listen and talk about how Hearst CT will hold itself accountable and invite scrutiny over how we report, edit and present the news.” (Matt quote from Twitter)
