When sportscaster Rich Coppola and his former employer, FOX61, couldn’t come to terms this past summer, there was widespread dismay at the loss of someone with 30 years of experience in the Connecticut market.
Now, after months of rumors, WTNH has officially hired him to do news. Here’s the announcement from News Director Chuck Carter:
It’s official.
Rich Coppola is joining the News 8 team.
Many of you know Rich was the long-time Sports anchor at WTIC, Fox 61 for 30 years.
In his new role here at News 8 Rich will focus exclusively on news.
During the next couple of weeks he’ll appear in various newscasts fronting local content.
Rich will begin his new role Monday.
