The news for the newspaper industry in Connecticut continues its bleak trend: this month, the Torrington Register Citizen ended its 145 year presence in the city.  Hearst Media Group, owner of the Register Citizen, closed the newspaper’s Field Street office and announced that the paper’s sole reporter will now work from home.

Readers of the Register Citizen need not despair over the loss of their local paper:  the Register Citizen will still publish in print and online.  Still, its a troubling sign of the changing news media landscape in Connecticut and across the country.
