Former WFSB anchor, current co-host of CBS This Morning and Editor-at-large of Oprah Magazine Gayle King received some intense backlash for her interview with WNBA star Lisa Leslie.
During the wide-ranging interview, King asked Leslie if Kobe Bryant’s legacy is complicated because of a sexual assault charge that was ultimately dismissed in 2004 after Bryant’s accuser told prosecutors she was unwilling to testify.
Celebrities like Snoop Dogg and 50Cent have spoken out against King’s line of questioning and have made derogatory, threatening remarks about her.
On February 6th, King put out a video on Twitter (in two parts) explaining that the clip put out by CBS was taken out of context and that it was jarring even to her. King also states that Leslie’s response was powerful and “put a nice button on that part of the conversation.”
Many have voiced support for King, including Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski and Amy Schumer. Former U.S. National Security Advisor Susan Rice tweeted a response Friday to Snoop Dogg’s video:
