Day 11: Coronavirus in CT

Here are the major news updates from today:

  • Governor Lamont urged residents to downsize social gatherings to no more than five people at his press conference this afternoon. He also advised out-of-state visitors to self-quarantine for 14 days to make sure that they are healthy before going out.
  • The Governor said the state will be waiving the plastic bag fee.
  • Gov. Lamont sent the White House an official request today to “add Connecticut to the list of states with disaster declarations due to the COVID-19 crisis.” CT Mirror has more.
  • UConn and CSCU have announced a partial refund to students for housing and dining fees. CT News Junkie has more.
  • Businesses and nonprofits considered essential during this time have been enumerated by the DECD here.
  • Last Friday, Gov. Lamont asked the private sector to help supply the state with personal protective equipment (PPE). The state’s request for PPE can be found here.
  • Access Health CT added a special enrollment period for those uninsured that began March 19 and continues until April 2. Coverage begins April 1.
