Here are the major news updates from today:
- Those without insurance have one more day to sign up through Access Health CT’s special enrollment. Coverage began today.
- Governor Lamont held his daily press briefing at Southern CT State University where a 250-bed FEMA field hospital has been set up by the CT National Guard in Moore Field House.
- Gov. Lamont announced today that insurance companies in the state are offering a 60-day grace period on premiums.
- DEEP announced stricter guidelines in response to the high volume of visitors at state parks and trails. More information from DEEP here.
- Grocery stores have announced new policy to limit the amount of people allowed in a store at one time. Only half the regular maximum capacity will be let inside. “Shoppers have also been asked to only send one family member at a time during shopping trips,” according to the Stamford Daily Voice.
- Gov. Lamont released guidelines for grocery shopping:
- CT Children’s Medical Center has furloughed 400 workers for 60 days. The Record-Journal has more.
- For information about the CT Dept. of Banking’s 90-day grace period for mortgages, visit the state site here.
- Gov. Lamont said at his press conference yesterday that there is currently a five-week waiting period for unemployment benefits due to the over 100,000 claims filed.
- Businesses and nonprofits considered essential during this time have been enumerated by the DECD here.
- Gov. Lamont has asked the private sector to help supply the state with personal protective equipment (PPE). The state’s request for PPE can be found here.
