Some unfortunate news for Connecticut radio as a result of Entercom’s announcement of furlough, layoffs and salary reductions at its more than 230 radio stations amid the COVID-19 pandemic:
- After 21 years, 93.7’s Nancy Barrow’s position on “The Hot Morning Crew” has been eliminated. Barrow posted a video explaining the news on Instagram.
- Music director and evening host Dean Richards, the 28-year radio veteran at 100.5, has been let go.
- Lisa Gold and Sheila Axelson, who worked behind the scenes at all four Entercom Connecticut stations, were also laid off.
Some other notable Entercom layoffs:
- News 880 WCBS New York and CBS Sports Radio anchor Jay Berman. He sent out this tweet.
- Chuck Friemond of “The Fan” 105.7, 1250 WSSP Milwaukee, after 11 years there. Read his tweet here.
We thank all these professionals on behalf of the listeners who never got to say goodbye to them.
