He was feared by some Connecticut public officials a few decades ago, and now his reporting skills have ensnared Donald Trump. The team at the New York Times that broke the Trump tax story included Mike McIntire. Mike did two stints at the Hartford Courant; first as a reporter and later he was in charge of the investigation desk before going to the Times in 2003. Says a former colleague, “Certainly one of the best we’ve ever had at the Courant.”
