Former Hartford based AP reporter Matt Apuzzo, now an investigative reporter with the New York Times, was one of four Times reporters to have his phone records seized by the Trump administration.
The news, disclosed by the Justice Department, says the records were seized as part of a leak investigation in 2017. This is the second such disclosure in the last month. The practice of seizing the phone records of journalists has been condemned by President Biden, the organizations targeted by the Trump efforts, and supporters of press freedom.
In terms of Apuzzo’s annual employee review, this news is probably helpful.
