Former WFSBer and Fox 61 alum Mika Brzezinski and her co-host have moved into a post-pandemic new studio at NBC. Studio 3A to be exact. But the new set really shines during the 4p.m hour when Nicolle Wallace is making use of the curvy feel to bring in her off-set favorite reporters and friends in what certainly looks like part of the prep for a move to prime-time.
As The Laurel noted a few weeks ago, Wallace is being talked up as the likely successor if Rachel Maddow leaves her full-time post sometime next year – as rumored.
Meanwhile, at CBSN, they are dropping the “N” and the streaming network will be known simply as CBS News. If a market has a local version of the streaming service it will be known as CBS News (insert city name here). The network formerly known as CBSN is also planning a permanent move to the studio space once occupied by CBS This Morning.
Interestingly, CBS, once widely known as the Tiffany Network, has been embracing its legacy in the last year with marketing moves designed to reach back and hold tight to the network’s former reputation for excellence. Calling a local streaming service CBS News Boston or CBS News Los Angeles, for example, adds to the perception CBS is a true network of local news operations. And the re-branding of the morning show to mirror CBS Sunday Morning comes close to a rejection of what has traditionally worked in morning TV in favor of a style that may seem out-dated to some.
