Cornish Stepping Down

All Things Considered co-host Audie Cornish has announced she is leaving NPR effective Friday.

This is the third such departure of a high profile NPR host in the last six months. Noel King and Lulu Garcia-Navarro also stepped aside recently to “pursue other ventures.”

In her note to NPR staff, Cornish did not say where she was headed, but suggested she is looking for new opportunities to practice journalism in different ways. She has been an occasional contributor on network television weekend public affairs shows. King moved to VOX and Garcia-Navarro went to the New York Times, as both those news orgs invest in podcasting.

Last week NPR announced Leila Fadel will replace Noel King on Morning Edition. No permanent replacement has been named for Garcia-Navarro, but a number of NPR regulars have been trying out the Sunday morning host duties since her departure in October.

Morning Edition and ATC are a major part of the daily line-up on Connecticut Public Media(WNPR) stations.
