Greener Pastures

For the past few years, Rick Green has been steering the editorial content of the Hartford Courant as the ship takes on water and sailors fall overboard. His tenure at the Courant began in 1987 as a staff writer when the Courant was the state’s media juggernaut (more boating analogies). He has seen the paper lose countless staff members and eventually its physical newsroom.

Rick left the Courant on Friday. Recently he did not get the Executive Editor job. Presumably that was a final straw for him after keeping the paper going during the pandemic. There is much to say about Rick, his talent, and his dedication to the paper. We’ll simply express our best wishes to him and look forward to reporting on his next chapter. Job well done, Rick.
