We at The Laurel have been following Alex Putterman’s career at the Hartford Courant since he started as a sports reporter in 2018. In March of 2020 he began covering all things COVID-19 and has been a star player for the paper. Now Hearst has lured him to its growing ranks. He’ll be a statewide enterprise reporter.
While we aren’t familiar with her work, we should also mention that Hearst has hired Taylor Johnston to be an interactive graphics reporter. In a tweet, Editor-in-Chief Wendy Metcalfe says she will be a key member of the data team. Johnston is finishing up a fellowship with the New York Times.
