When Rachel Lutzker gave up her radio and TV traffic duties a year ago, we wrote that it was hard to imagine the Connecticut media landscape without her. Imagine no more, as WTNH has hired her. According to a press release, she will “file reports from News 8’s Hartford Newsroom and will work on CT STYLE as a reporter.” She has continued to host a program on The River 105.9 over the years.
News8 is also hiring Kathryn Hauser, who will report and anchor on the weekends. She was the morning anchor at WBZ in Boston (2014-2016) and before that, anchored at News12 in Norwalk. When she left her job in Boston to follow her husband’s career to Connecticut, let the record show that The Laurel asked, “Could she end up on air in Connecticut?”
WTNH continues to hire familiar market veterans: newspeople who have a sense of Connecticut’s history and know how to pronounce “Berlin.” We applaud the approach.
