The Politicos Are Going To Love This One

For a short period of time back in 2003-2004 there was a great blog (one of the first) called “Connecitcut Political Watch” that covered politics in Connecticut. Then it faded away and others filled the void.

“Connecticut Political Watch” is back, but it has evolved into CT Capitol Report. And we couldn’t be happier because from what we’ve seen over the past few weeks (The Laurel was given early access) it has a lot going for it: it’s a non-partisan site AND it’s updated throughout the day.

Are you a state capitol veteran? Definition: you’ve roamed the halls after midnight either reporting, legislating, staffing legislators or lobbying. If so, you may remember Tom Dudchik. When he was barely old enough to shave he was a state representative from Ansonia/Derby. He worked for then-U.S. Senator Lowell Weicker in D.C.  When Weicker was elected Governor in 1990, Tom became a Deputy Commissioner of the DEP and eventually Deputy Chief of Staff.  He’s getting back into the political world after taking a few years off to raise and adopt two foster children.

Tom is trying to position CTCapitolReport as a political website, not a blog. And as CT Confidential points out, the site looks like the Drudge Report; that’s intentional. Similar to Drudge, the links are edited, not just agggregated.  In other words, Tom reads the stories  and points out in his headline what he thinks is important.
