It’s been ten years since columnist Helen Ubinas left the Hartford Courant for the Philadelphia Inquirer. She marked the anniversary this week.
Since then she has been reliably afflicting the comfortable and comforting the afflicted. One of her most memorable columns led her to show readers how easy it is to buy an AR-15. It took her seven minutes. She later turned it in to police who presumably destroyed it.
I once witnessed someone Ubinas had criticized in a column tell her she did not like Ubinas’s subject matter.
“Thank you,” Ubinas replied.
