There is another anniversary to mark this Friday in the world of Connecticut radio.
Ninety-eight years ago today WTIC-AM 1080, the one time “Pulse of New England,” went on the air for the first time under the ownership of the Travelers Insurance Company.
As the station approaches the 100 year mark it is worth considering all the changes in how we consume information and entertainment over the last century. There was a time in the not too distant past when radio stations like WTIC and smaller legacy stations in cities around the state were as influential as the internet is today. And now podcasting, which is radio on your computer, is having its own moment.
