There are always twists and sub-plots in any sports story and last week’s championship win by the UConn men’s basketball team is no exception.
One of the many people who had a chance to cut the net in Houston was Phil Chardis, who for 39 years covered sports, including UConn, for the Manchester based Journal Inquirer and then went on to spend 12 years as the primary media contact for UConn athletics.
Chardis is retiring.
