A new survey out this week from the Medill Local News Initiative at Northwestern says one-third of those surveyed believe that local news is failing to hold public officials accountable.
On the plus side, about the same number disagree with the premise and about 40% have no opinion. While the survey focuses on the issue of trust vs. distrust, the real story may be the vast middle who have no opinion on the issue at all probably because they don’t consume local news or care about it.
