Right: Buzbee
Without warning, suddenly, and on a Sunday night, Washington Post executive editor Sally Buzbee stepped down from her role.
She will be replaced by Matt Murray, formerly of the Wall St. Journal and then after Election Day her post will be filled permanently by Robert Winnett, the deputy editor of The Telegraph Media Group.
More important than the abrupt personnel changes is the story it tells about the struggles the Post is facing and its plans to recover. The new management team will be focused on two strategies: creating different subscription levels to improve revenue and creating new content on social media to serve readers in the manner they want to be served.
