Fox News paid nearly $1 billion to settle a lawsuit in which the network was accused of lying about the outcome of the 2020 election. Its hosts on both its morning and evening shows regularly defend former President Trump at all costs no matter the latest outrage. Fox’s White House correspondent – who landed his job solely on the merits – regularly asks ridiculously foolish and embarrassing questions at the daily White House briefing strictly for show.
During most of the middle of the day the network pretends to be non-partisan, and once respected journalists like Brett Baier, trade on their former reputations to provide cover for the rest the program line-up. Baier and others allow themselves to be used so Fox can claim to be a legitimate news organization.
It is difficult to know why they do it, but there is no need to pretend otherwise
