Reuters has a very interesting piece on Greenwich Time investigative journalist Teri Buhl. However, it is not that she just got fired but her entire blog archive appears to have been wiped from the Greenwich Time website.
What’s worse, the reporter in question, Teri Buhl, hasn’t just been fired from her job at Greenwich Time, a Hearst newspaper in Connecticut; her entire archive of blog entries there has disappeared, leaving only a message saying “This blog has been archived or suspended”. It’s as though Hearst wanted not only to fire her, but to make it seem as though they’d never hired her — although there is still an archive of stories she wrote for the newspaper itself.
This is really a foolish decision on McCumber’s part. Teri Buhl’s watch dog reporting on hedge funds and financial services in in our area was, and still is, a needed public service. The smaller funds get away with investor abuse and market fraud becuase the WSJ/ FT/ NYT never report on them.
How can I ever really trust any news the comes out of Hearst Newspapers if they keep bowing down to big name media or wall streeters who complain when there is a tough story printed on them.
Someone should hire Buhl soon we need more reporters like her.
